Like many of the JGW Team, Peter Durham was born on the land and a love of all things farming was born in him. Peter has been part of the JGW family for four years and forms an integral part of the Wagga sales crew.
‘What goes around, comes around’ – is one of Peter’s beliefs and it seems his career has definitely done a full swing. He has dabbled in tin and gold mining, farming, concrete, trucks and advertising before moving back into the agricultural support industry in his current role.
Described as quick witted, reliable, and loyal, Peter likes his sport and also enjoys knocking out a beat on the drums.
“I was born on the family farm in Ardlethan. I left school in year ten to work on the family farm and others around the district.
“Our farm was too small to continue so I started work in the local tin mine working underground as a plant operator and driller.
“The mine eventually closed, and I moved to WA working for Western Mining Corp for three years as an underground diamond driller.
“Constant industrial strikes in WA saw me move back to Wagga where I worked for a quarry and concrete company for 13 years as a truck driver.
“I then took a career change and went into advertising working for Fairfax Media. I worked there for nine and a half years as a sales rep and was promoted to Advertising Manager for The Daily Advertiser.
“Redundancy saw me head into the agricultural machinery industry working for Kubota/Krone before landing my job at JGW.
“I enjoy the ag industry in general and the people that work in it. JGW are excellent to work with and for.
“When I’m not at work, I follow my son’s AFL football team and my step-daughter’s horse riding events. I enjoy spending time with my family, horse racing and sport in general. I also enjoy playing the drums.”
